Paul has been sailing and winning at the highest international level for twenty years. He has competed in more than two hundred top-flight International competitions and started more than two thousand races. The experience gained has then been used to coach the winners of gold medals at the Olympics, ISAF Youth Worlds, Olympic Class World and European Championships and UK National Championships.

Paul's sailing journey started with a huge love of the sport. However, through lack of opportunity and poor application he did not deliver early success. He had talent, so he was told, but poor application.

In 1990 he teamed up with Andy Hemmings. Andy was highly professional and had achieved an enormous amount. This professional focus was to become their number one tool for winning.

From nowhere they placed third at the 470 Worlds and were World Ranked in the top three for the twelve months before the Olympics in Barcelona. "I was, if I am being honest, stunned at what we achieved" says Paul. "Our training was ruthless and hard. I believe the end product of our success would not have happened without two key ingredients: An undying passion and enthusiasm for sailing, gained in my days as a youth sailor, and a clear cut, professional, goal orientated training programme that left our UK competitors reeling."

The way they trained was ahead of their time. Over the mid 1990s Paul has refined the basic methodology they employed. His philosophy for success, and for this website, is based on the experience and knowledge developed over this time.

Now, the sailing of others is being dramatically improved because of this methodology and the sailors' trust in his philosophy.
